We have a brand new Compaq / HP laptop with Win 7 and 2 gb ram, 7200 rpm sata drive, and running clean (30 processes max)
SB just slows to a crawl at times and we get the "not responding" in the program bar for as long as 30 seconds to 1 minute. It has never crashed or locked up the system, and SixBit itself has maybe only tanked 1 or 2 times. So far so good, but we'd like to make the software just a little more responsive.
I am about ready to get a much more powerful laptop with 4gb ram, 4 core processor, etc.
If all could post their thoughts on what they are experiencing and what type of PC hardware SB likes the most, it would be helpful to all upcoming users!! Thus far we only have about 300 items and we noticed a very slight slow down with the .004 upgrade yesterday.

Either computer should be fine for running SB. More RAM is always good, as SQL Server will use as much as it can get. A good graphics card is always a plus, as SB will take advantage of the hardware acceleration.
I'd like to hear what activities you are doing when the slowdown occurs. If it's not consistent, could you check the Event Log after the next one to see if it coincided with a servant task? (Maintenance tab, Event Log, Automated Tasks entries)
The refreshes happen every 1/2 hour, so that might be the culprit.

I've got SB installed on a clean (newly set up/updated) WinXP Home system. Hardware is an older HP a824n system - P4/3Ghz, 1G ram, 200GB SATA drive, CD/DVD burner, CD reader, assorted media card slots. Can't update the ram due to a defect on the mobo - the extra memory slots cannot be used.
Currently I'm running SB Home & Hobby with no problems. I have not noticed any delays, but I still have an extremely small database (I've only imported running from eBay, and currently that's not much). I'm trying to set this system up totally with freeware rather than registered software -- Open Office instead of MS Office, FireFox instead of IE, etc. So far, so good.
